Additional Terms for Food Vendors

 

IMPORTANT – Food regulations were changed as of 1st July 2011. These instructions are therefore different to previous advice and are our understanding of how the new regulations will affect our stallholders. If in doubt please contact Nillumbik Council’s Public Health Unit on 9433 3340 or by email health.services@nillumbik.vic.gov.au

 

1.      Are you registered under the new State-wide Registration and notification scheme? If yes forward a “Statement of Trade” with your application (there is no fee required) and go straight 3 below.

 

2.     If  you are a not registered please contact your local council:

  • For most non-packaged products, you need to submit a Registration Application to your “principal council”.
  • Pre-packaged foods and basic product may only need a “Notification” to your principal council. There are different Notification forms depending on whether you are a commercial or not for profit operator and whether you are trading from a stall or a vehicle. Please see council’s website for the appropriate form.

 

Note: Any payment made to councils for food permits is additional to your site fee.

 

Once registered or “notified” with your council please forward us a “Statement of Trade” with your application (see links below).

 

3.             FIRE PREVENTION

All hot food outlets MUST, have a Fire Blanket and a 2kg Fire Extinguisher suitable for all materials. In addition all cooking utensils must be of fire retardant material.

 

4.             ALCOHOL

The sale or provision of alcoholic beverages, except within the designated area and with the approval of the organisers is strictly prohibited. If you are approved by the organisers to sell alcoholic beverages it is YOUR responsibility to comply with the applicable licensing regulations.
