In presenting Eltham Idol 2011, Rotary is giving young local singers the opportunity to gain experience of performing in public before a judging panel of professional musicians, as well as the chance to compete for a range of prizes valued at over $10,000.Eltham Idol 2011 is being presented by the Rotary Club of Eltham as a feature event of the 2011 Rotary Eltham Town Festival, which will be held on November 12th, and 13th, 2011.
There are 3 categories;
- Under 21 performing an original song
- Under 21 performing a cover song
- Under 15 section
The winners of each category will also receive an inaugural ‘Tony Wason Award’. This perpetual award will be presented each year in memory of Past Rotary President Tony Wason who developed and managed the Eltham Idol competition from its inception in 2005 until his death following a long battle with illness in 2010.
